When you set up a payment account for your campaign, you can choose which payment methods donors can use to contribute. Ideali supports five payment methods, four of which are processed through Stripe.

Debit and Credit Card

Donors can pay using any major debit or credit card. This is the most common payment method and is available to donors worldwide.

Apple Pay / Google Pay

Donors can pay in just a tap with the cards saved in their digital wallet, without typing any card details. Apple Pay is available to donors using Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and Google Pay is available on Android devices and in the Chrome browser. The matching button appears automatically when a donor’s device or browser supports it.

ACH USD

ACH is a bank to bank transfer method available to donors with a US bank account. It is a popular option for larger donations as it typically carries lower transaction fees than card payments.

PAD CAD

PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) is a bank to bank payment method available to donors with a Canadian bank account. The donor enters their bank details and gives a one-time authorization, which allows the donation to be pulled directly from their account. This makes PAD well suited to recurring donations, because future payments are collected automatically without the donor having to give again each time. Like ACH, PAD typically carries lower transaction fees than card payments. Bank debits take a few business days to clear, so the donation will show as processing until the payment is confirmed.

Check or Cheque

Donors can contribute by sending a physical check or cheque. This option is suitable for donors who prefer traditional payment methods or do not have access to digital payment options.

Choosing Your Payment Methods

You can enable or disable each payment method individually when setting up your campaign. Go to Step 4 of the campaign builder, select your payment account, and check or uncheck the payment methods you want to offer. You can update these at any time by editing your campaign. Donations are collected in the currency of your payment account, either USD or CAD. If a donor’s device does not support Apple Pay or Google Pay, they will simply see your other enabled payment methods instead.
